myShield™ is the perfect aid during blood tests, allergy tests and stitching up at the doctor’s. And equally helpful at home, when cleaning scrapes, cuts and removing splinters. These are challenging situations for children. myShield™ makes them a little easier.
Two thirds of children have a fear of needles. This fear may be carried into adulthood whereby it is estimated that about one quarter of adults are afraid and one of ten have an outright phobia.* myShield™ helps to fight this fear!
Past experiences are one of the mechanisms included in the experience of pain.** myShield™ helps to fight the fear and is a helpful tool to prevent negative early experiences!

myShield™ is designed to hide and distract from all the unpleasantness. The smart disposable shield can be used on the entire arm and contains enjoyable puzzle games that provide distraction for the child on one side, and tips for grown-ups regarding what to ask for on the other.
Distraction and shielding gives the grown-up more favourable conditions for cleaning the scrape or inserting the needle. The positive interaction and engagement between the child and the grown-up is valuable!
On the side facing the child there is an enjoyable puzzle image. The shield is designed to hide away the unpleasantness, at the same time allowing for a good overview of the image.
The images contain lots and lots of fun details, which makes solving the puzzles an engaging – and often surprising – activity.
There is nothing like distraction to create a good atmosphere and divert the child’s mind from what is happening on the other side of the shield!
Distraction involves any technique that removes a child’s attention from the needle procedure to something more pleasant. It is viewed as a key non-pharmacological intervention for essentially all ages of children. Multiple reviews and meta-analyses demonstrate the effectiveness of distraction for reducing pain during needle procedures (Chambers et al., 2009; DeMore and Cohen, 2005; Kleiber and Harper, 1999; Richardson et al., 2006; Uman et al., 2006)
Facing the grown-up are task tips to create interaction with the child.
Can you find the flea with the fishing rod? Or the sad clown in the spaceship? Or how about that tiny golden egg that no-one has ever found? The child will have great fun trying to find all the items on the list, including our superheroes and their superdog.
Always praise your child for being brave! Even if he/she cried and was a bit worried. Award him/her to turn the experience into something positive! The myShield™ Award on the back side of the shield is a great way to tell your child that you are proud and the reward gives a proof of pride and courage!
The myShield™ Award is another fun – yet important – part of the myShield™ experience. It enhances the child’s sense of achievement. The child may have cried during the procedure, but it aced the myShield™ task!
We have used this product for blood sampling, shots and even when we removed a splinter on our 3-years old. This product is without doubt genius and a big help!
Yesterday we used myShield™ for the very first time. It turned out to be a nice experience. No tears or worries. As this was the first time our 3-year old did a blood test, we have no comparative situation, but we absolutely believe myShield had big influence for the positive outcome.
myShield™ is design- and patent protected.
